Dr. Samir DasGupta was born in Bengal, India on 6, January 1942. He graduated in Science (B.Sc) from the Calcutta University with "Distinction" and B.Sc (Technology)- Leather Technology with "First Class" in 1963. Thereafter, he obtained a post graduate diploma in Marketing with "First Class" from the Rajendra Prasad Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi and Ph.D (Biotechnology) from Massey University, New Zealand. He has worked in various capacities in India, England, USA and New Zealand, including Assistant [Vector (Chemicals), Indian Standards tnstitution, Technical Manager (Leather), Yorkshire Chemicals, UK, Technical Director, Atlas Refinery, USA and Scientist (Tanning Technology), New Zealand Leather & Shoe Research Association. He has developed and patented a number of products and processes for the leather Industry and published 125 papers in various leather journals, including JILTA, JSLTC, ALCA and Leather Science. In 2001, for his contribution his biography was included in "WHO's WHO of the World" and in 2009, he was listed at number 3 of the "Top Ten Scientists of the World" in the held of Leather Science and Technology by the International Leather, UK.
Dr. Joans has a Doctorate degree from UPC (Polytechnic University of Catalonia) and he did his Chemical Engineering and Masters in Leather Technology from UPC and MBA from University of Barcelona.
Throughout his career Dr. Joans holds several technical and management positions at Ciba/TFL based in Spain, Switzerland, Mexico and Germany. He was the Managing Director at the Research Institute for the leather Industry at Igualada (Spain) from 2008 to 2012 and from 2013 he was the Global Technical Director at Proviera biotech, Kansas City – USA and from 2016, Global Marketing Manager for Proviera and beamhouse at Stahl.
Dr. Joans also held the position of Chairman of the ISO-IULTCS/IUC committee for the Standardization of chemical tests on leather from 2008 to 2016 and Vice-President of the Spanish Association of leather chemist and technologist (AQEIC) since 2008. He has numerous publications and conducted various lecture sessions on leather research.
Susanta Chakraborty received his Bachelor’s(B.Tech) and Master’s(M.Tech) degree from the University of Calcutta in 1983 and 1985 respectively and Ph.D.(Tech.) degree in Computer Science in 1999 from University of Calcutta and Research work done at Advance Computing and Microelectronic Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Technology and Dean (Academic) of Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, West Bengal, which has the status of 'Institute of National Importance' (INI) in India.
Prior to this Professor Chakraborty served at University of Kalyani as Dean of Engineering, Technology and Management faculty. He has published around 74 research papers, appeared in various reputed International Journals including IEEE Transactions on CAD and refereed international Conference proceedings of IEEE Computer Science Press. He obtained one patent by International body and two books published by International publication Springer, Germany in the year 2016 and 2017 respectively. Dr. Chakraborty awarded INSA-JSPS Fellowship of Indian National Science Academy (INSA) in the session 2003-2004 and works have been done in collaboration with Professor H. Fujiwara of Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan. He has been invited from Institute of Information Technology, University of Potsdam, Germany with German Government fellowship, to do research work as a Guest scientist with Prof. M. Gossel in 2000 and also invited from University of Michigan Ann Arbor, Advanced Computer Architecture Lab, USA and works have been done in collaboration with Professor John P. Hays, Shannon Professor of Engineering.
30 years research experience of Dr. Chakraborty has been focused on Big data analysis and application, Social network analysis, Fault-Tolerant Computing, Synthesis and Testing of Quantum Circuit and VLSI Circuits, Internet of Things based security, Cyber-Physical DMFB and security, Machine learning, Video Image Processing, Gene Regulatory Network, and Low Power Design. He has served as Chair and in other capacities in various International Symposiums and Conferences of high repute.
Debotosh Bhattacharjee is working as a full professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Jadavpur University with a fourteen years of post-PhD experience. His research interests pertain to the applications of machine learning techniques for Face Recognition, Gait Analysis, Hand Geometry Recognition, and Diagnostic Image Analysis. He has authored or coauthored more than 250 journals, conference publications, including several book chapters in the areas of Biometrics and Medical Image Processing. Two US patents have been granted on his works.
Prof. Bhattacharjee has been granted sponsored projects by the Govt. of India funding agencies like Department of Biotechnology(DBT), Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), University Grants Commission(UGC) with a total amount of around INR 2 Crore. For postdoctoral research, Dr. Bhattacharjee has visited different universities abroad like the University of Twente, The Netherlands; Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, Portugal; University of Bologna, Italy; ITMO National Research University, St. Petersburg, Russia; University of Ljubljana, Slovenia; Northumbria University, Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK and Heidelberg University, Germany.
He is a life member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE, New Delhi), Indian Unit for Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence (IUPRAI), and a senior member of IEEE (USA).
