A hundred years is indeed a long time for a human being’s life. However, for an institution of learning, completing a century of existence is probably an expected outcome. It exemplifies its growth and maturity and paves the way to a future of further glory. As we usher in our centenary year and celebrate this momentous occasion, we warmly welcome everyone to join us.

From a humble inception in 1919 as “Calcutta Research Tannery”, The Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology today is an institution with a rich history. Over the years, the institution has produced hundreds of highly proficient professionals who have made immense contributions in industry and society at large. We have been an integral part of the journey of modern, technologically advanced Indian nation. We continue to contribute to today’s twenty first century knowledge economy through our excellence in learning and research.

The Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology has undoubtedly made its most significant impact in providing the highest standards of education and training to leather technology professionals. Graduates from our institution have shined through their achievements in the fields of production, research & development, and commerce. We are proud to have a strong alumni base widely recognized beyond the boundaries of West Bengal and India. Today, we as an institution are principally associated with excellence in the field of leather technology. As part of our evolution as a center of learning, we have successfully transformed ourselves as an organization providing high quality education to engineering students from diverse fields. We are happy to witness that through our sheer dedication and hard work, we have attained added success, as the industry has welcomed our graduates.
